Need to Measure Pulp Yield in Standing Trees?

for the past 10 years we have been developing Near Infra Red spectroscopic models to predict kraft pulp yield in small eucalypt wood samples... in an affordable manner.

Wood Properties

Wood properties vary markedly within individual Eucalyptus trees, in both radial and longitudinal dimensions, and these differences result in changes in whole-tree mean values with increasing tree age.

In general properties like density, pulp yield, cellulose content, stiffness and strength increase with age.  So the longer a tree is left growing, the value of the wood for each successive unit of volume produced increases, increasing the average value of the whole tree over time.

At Forest Quality we can provide access to a range of technologies and skills that allow forest growers, or the potential buyers of forests, to understand how these commercially important properties vary across a resource base.
